For tracking heavy guitar parts, the LTD Phoenix brings a few useful traits. Set-neck construction supports solid, consistent note definition, and the high-output pickups drive amps and amp sims into thick saturation, which is a good starting point for dense rock and metal mixes. Gain-heavy tones can get muddy, so a clear, focused source guitar helps.

The series spans the Phoenix-200 line, the Phoenix-1000 and the Phoenix-1007 Baritone, along with Bill Kelliher-inspired designs tied to Mastodon's sound. The baritone is an obvious pick for producers who need low-tuned riffs and extra weight under a mix without pitch-shifting after the fact. Current listings include the Phoenix-201, 200DX and 204DX in Black, Black Burst and Red Burst.

For a home studio, the 200-series guitars, priced from roughly $499 to $599, add an aggressive, distinctive voice to the guitar locker without a flagship budget. Studio Gears carries the Phoenix for producers and engineers who want a reliable source of high-output tone to build records around.
