Under $500 buys a real instrument now: a bolt-on neck, decent tuners, and either a pair of humbuckers or a solid-top acoustic. FAQ
Is a $400 guitar good enough to gig with?
Yes, with a setup. The TE-201, C-6 Deluxe and Omen-6 above all hold tune and intonate properly; the difference at $800 is pickups, neck joint and hardware, not whether the guitar works on stage.
Why are some $1,099 guitars listed under $1,000?
They are B-Stock: brand-new instruments with one small cosmetic blemish, sold at 20% below MAP with the full manufacturer warranty. The product page photographs the actual unit including the mark.
Should I buy a cheaper guitar plus an upgrade, or spend more up front?
Under $500, buy the guitar you like the feel of and upgrade pickups later if you want; a pickup swap is $80 to $200. Above $800 the factory pickups are usually the ones you would have swapped to anyway.
Which acoustic under $500 has a solid top?
