Frequently asked questions
What's the actual string count and scale difference?
The Damien-8 has eight strings with a multiscale fretboard (25.5″ to 27.5″ scale length). The C-1 has six strings on a fixed 25.5″ scale. The multiscale design on the Damien-8 keeps tension balanced across the extra strings; the C-1 uses a single scale for traditional playability.
Which is easier to learn on—do I need advanced skills for either?
Both are rated for intermediate to professional players. The C-1 is more forgiving for transitioning players because 6-string layouts are universal. The Damien-8 requires comfort with extended-range technique and wider fretboard spacing, making it better suited to players already familiar with 7- or 8-string guitars.
How do the pickups differ in tone?
The Damien-8's Heretic-8 pickups are engineered for 8-string articulation and clarity across a wider frequency range. The C-1's Hellfire humbuckers are traditional voiced for tight lows, articulate mids, and aggressive highs in a classic 6-string context. Both cut through a dense mix but serve different string counts.
Is the B-stock Damien-8 a better value than the standard C-1?
Both are mid-tier priced. The Damien-8 B-stock (cosmetic damage or box wear) offers the complexity of 8 strings and multiscale engineering. The C-1 offers a hand-dipped unique finish and a simpler, proven platform. Value depends on whether you need extended range or prefer proven reliability and custom aesthetics.
