Sound & Tone
The solid spruce top over maple back and sides gives this 12-string dreadnought a bright, clear voice with strong projection and sustain, and the doubled courses add the shimmering, chorus-like ring the format is known for. The cutaway body and 644mm scale keep string tension and intonation even across all twelve strings, suiting big open-chord strumming as much as fingerstyle passages that let the harmonic overtones bloom. With TP-3G onboard electronics, it carries that jangle into a folk, country, rock, or singer-songwriter mix on stage or in the studio without losing its acoustic character.
Takamine GD37CE-12 String Acoustic Electric Guitar Pearl White
This 12-string dreadnought cutaway captures the signature shimmering, chorus-like richness that defines the format, with responsive playability that encourages fluid finger movement across all positions. The comfortable neck profile and smooth laurel fretboard make extended tracking sessions engaging, whether strumming open chords or executing intricate fingerstyle passages that showcase the guitar's natural harmonic complexity. Built-in TP-3G electronics ensure your tone translates faithfully through any preamp or interface, making this instrument equally capable for studio recording or live performance.
Tone & Construction
The solid spruce top paired with maple back and sides produces warm, balanced tone with excellent sustain and clarity across the frequency range. A mahogany neck and 47.5mm nut width provide structural stability and comfortable spacing for both rhythm and lead work, while the 644mm scale length ensures proper intonation and string tension across all twelve strings.
Playability & Finishing
The gloss pearl white finish reads clearly in studio lighting, while the ivoroid binding on the body, fingerboard, and headstock creates refined aesthetic contrast. The cutaway design grants comfortable access to upper frets for layered parts and overdubs, and the abalone rosette with pearl dot inlays reflect Takamine's attention to detail, all backed by gold hardware that resists tarnishing and maintains visual consistency across sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a 12-string acoustic different from a standard 6-string, and what genres work best with it?
A 12-string has six pairs of strings tuned in octaves or unison, producing a naturally shimmering, chorus-like richness that fills frequency space without effects processing. This model excels in folk, pop, indie, and worship settings where that characteristic shimmer cuts through ensemble arrangements; it is not well-suited for metal or djent styles.
Is this guitar comfortable for extended playing sessions, and how accessible are the upper frets?
Yes. The comfortable mahogany neck profile, smooth laurel fretboard, and 47.5mm nut width encourage fluid finger movement and reduce hand fatigue over long sessions. The cutaway design grants comfortable access to upper frets for both lead work and extended fingerstyle passages.
What are the electronics, and how well do they capture the guitar's natural tone?
The guitar features Takamine's TP-3G onboard electronics, which ensure your tone translates faithfully through any amplifier in studio or live settings. The built-in system preserves the warm, balanced character and natural harmonic complexity of the solid spruce top and maple construction.
What is included with this guitar, and what materials define its construction?
The package includes a GBXW gig bag. The guitar features a solid spruce top, maple back and sides, mahogany neck with laurel fingerboard, 644mm scale length, ivoroid binding on body and headstock, abalone rosette with pearl dot inlays, and gold hardware that resists tarnishing.
How does this compare to other 12-string models in its class?
The Takamine GD37CE-12 competes directly with models like the Yamaha GC12CE, Martin D12X1AE, and Fender CD-60SCE-12. Takamine's reputation for solid construction, combined with this model's warm tone, excellent sustain, and refined aesthetics (pearl white finish, abalone rosette, gold hardware), makes it a reliable choice for intermediate to advanced players in studio and live applications.
