Description

Shadow Rockabilly Pro Upright Bass Stereo PreAmp System

The Shadow Rockabilly Pro is a dual-pickup and preamp solution engineered for recording upright bass with independent control over slap and bridge tones. Developed in collaboration with renowned rockabilly bassist Didi Beck, this system captures the percussive attack of fingerboard-mounted slap articulation alongside the full-bodied resonance of bridge-mounted pickup response, all in a compact interface designed for studio tracking and post-production flexibility.

Dual-Channel Recording & Tone Shaping

Each of the two included pickups—one mounted under the fingerboard for slap, one at the bridge for fundamental tone—feeds its own independent channel with fully dedicated controls. The bridge channel offers Gain, Bass, Mid, Presence, and Volume adjustment plus a Subsonic Filter and Pre-Shape function, enabling clean low-end management in dense mixes, while the slap channel provides Gain, Lo-Cut, Treble, and Volume with a switchable 4 kHz / 8 kHz bass frequency control, giving you surgical precision to isolate slap character or blend it seamlessly with the fundamental.

Studio Integration & Signal Flow

Built-in tools include a phase switch for phase-coherent blending of both channels, an automatic chromatic tuner for fast session setup, and the ability to route to either mono or dual-channel amplifiers or audio interfaces. The system runs on a single 9V DC input, making it practical for both live and studio environments.

At a Glance

The Shadow Rockabilly Pro gives home and professional recording engineers a two-channel capture system for upright bass with independent EQ and dynamics control on each pickup channel—slap and bridge—letting you blend and shape them separately during recording and mixing. Its dual-channel design means you can record both articulations simultaneously and adjust their balance, tone, and presence in the mix without re-recording, making it ideal for sessions where you want authentic upright character with cutting definition. The built-in tuner, phase control, and 9V operation make it a practical, self-contained solution for capturing clean, professional upright bass recordings.
