Description
Seymour Duncan SH-8n & SH-8b Invader Set, Txc Yellow Pickup
The Seymour Duncan Invader set captures aggressive, high-output performance with exceptional clarity across the entire frequency spectrum. In the recording studio, these pickups excel in high-gain contexts where definition and articulation are critical—palm-muted chugs track with tight definition, harmonics cut through the mix, and lead lines maintain precision rather than blurring into heavy arrangements.
Tone & Output Character
The SH-8n neck (7.2 kΩ) and SH-8b bridge (16.8 kΩ) are calibrated for balanced output across the pair, with the bridge's higher resistance providing the aggression and sustain modern productions demand. The neck's 8 kHz resonant peak keeps upper midrange articulate during stacking and layering, while the bridge's 5 kHz peak sits in the sweet spot for defined crunch and lead tone without harshness—essential for mix clarity when tracking multiple guitars.
Construction & Design
Hand-built in Seymour Duncan's Santa Barbara facility, these pickups feature specially overwound coils, three massive ceramic bar magnets, and oversized metal oxide pole pieces for aggressive magnetic field control. Vacuum wax potting eliminates microphonic feedback and squeal—essential during recording sessions with drop-tuned and high-gain applications where feedback can otherwise contaminate takes and require extensive editing.
