Seymour Duncan Phat Cat Silencer Vnt Gold Pickup Set

Seymour Duncan Phat Cat Silencer Vintage Gold Pickup Set

The Phat Cat Silencer captures the woody, articulate voice of a classic P-90 with modern noise elimination—a rare combination that bridges vintage character and contemporary hum-free performance. This set installs directly into standard humbucker cavities, making it ideal for retrofitting existing instruments in the studio without rewiring or routing. The vintage-voiced pairing delivers responsive neck clarity for detailed recording with controlled bridge output for balanced mix presence.

Design & Installation

These pickups are sized for standard humbucker-slot installation, requiring no cavity modification on compatible instruments. The gold finish adds visual distinction while the noiseless architecture eliminates the 60-cycle hum inherent to traditional P-90 designs—critical for clean tracking and overdubs in any recording environment.

Tone & Performance in the Mix

The vintage-voiced character emphasizes midrange body and natural harmonic complexity, translating to warm, singing leads and articulate rhythm tones that sit naturally in a mix. Noiseless circuitry preserves the P-90's single-coil personality while delivering the quiet operation essential for studio session work and multi-track recording.
