Seymour Duncan JB Pickups for Recording

Tone starts at the pickup, and swapping one is a simple way to change what your guitar puts on the record. Studio Gears carries the Seymour Duncan JB family, built around the SH-4 JB Model humbucker, available in Zebra, Black, Gold, Nickel and Raw Nickel with Rad Gold Mesh finishes. For tracking, the practical decisions are which pickup goes in the bridge and whether it fits the guitar.

Spacing matters when you are modifying a session guitar. The SH-4 is the standard humbucker format, and the TB-4 JB Trembucker is for trembucker-spaced bridge slots. The SH-4 JB Nighthawk and SH-4 JB Rail Matte Black give you other JB-based options to try if you want a different color for your guitar parts in the mix.

For a matched bridge and neck pair, the SH-4/SH-2n sets include Hot Rodded versions in Black, Zebra and Red/Black. With prices from about $99 to $278, you can refit one workhorse guitar or several in a home studio.
