Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this different from a standard Strat pickup?
The Twang Banger uses a Telecaster-style wind and construction—sand-cast alnico 2 magnets and a copper-plated steel baseplate—to deliver Tele-like snap and twang, with spanky highs and articulate lows, while keeping the standard Stratocaster shape and size for drop-in compatibility.
Is this suitable for metal or high-gain genres?
No; the Twang Banger is voiced for blues, country, rock, and studio sessions. Its vintage-hot character and articulate tone are optimized for clarity and definition rather than high-gain sustain, so it is not recommended for metal or djent playing.
What output level does this pickup have?
The Twang Banger has a DCR of 8.3, placing it in the vintage-hot range—enough presence and punch for gigging without overpowering your amp or losing articulation.
What comes in the box and does it fit my Strat?
The pickup ships with cloth push-back lead wire and is wax-potted to eliminate microphonic squeal. It fits any standard Stratocaster bridge cavity; Seymour Duncan recommends pairing it with the Alnico II Pro Staggered middle pickup for tonal cohesion.
Where is this made?
Hand-built in Santa Barbara, California, using sand-cast alnico 2 rod magnets with modern pole stagger and a copper-plated steel baseplate for reliable, consistent tone.
