Description
Sound & Tone
The dual EMG 909 active pickups push a tight, high-output voice that stays articulate under heavy gain, while the mahogany body and set-neck construction add warmth beneath the attack. The 30" scale keeps the lowest of the nine strings defined rather than muddy, and the Hipshot hardtail with string-through-body stringing lends sustain and a focused, resonant core. It's aimed squarely at modern metal and progressive playing, where low-register riffing needs to stay clear and lead lines need to cut through.
Schecter Damien Platinum-9 Electric Guitar Satin Black
The Damien Platinum-9 is a 9-string extended-range instrument engineered for capturing heavy, articulate tones in modern metal and progressive recording sessions. Its thin 'C' neck profile and 30" scale deliver comfortable high-position access while maintaining clarity across the expanded lower register—critical for tracking layered riffs and complex arrangements. The satin black finish with platinum hardware presents a refined, professional appearance without sacrificing durability.
Playability & Construction
Built on a mahogany body with set-neck construction and Ultra Access for seamless upper-fret navigation, this guitar combines tonal warmth with practical ergonomics during extended recording and performance sessions. The 3-piece maple neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods and rosewood fretboard provide stability and definition across takes, while 24 X-Jumbo frets and a 20" fretboard radius accommodate both aggressive playing and precise articulation for clean tracking. Grover tuners ensure reliable tuning stability across all nine strings between punch-ins and overdubs.
Tone & Recording Response
Dual EMG 909 pickups deliver articulate, high-output tones that cut through dense mixes and sit well in heavy gain applications, with independent volume and tone controls plus a 3-way selector for quick tonal adjustments between takes. The Hipshot Hardtail bridge with string-through-body design maximizes sustain and resonance for sustained notes and powerful chord stabs, while the 9-volt battery compartment powers the active electronics with consistent output throughout tracking sessions.
