Schecter C-4 & C-5 Bass Guitars

For recording low end, the Schecter C-4 and C-5 offer active electronics with onboard EQ. You can shape the tone at the source before it hits your DI or interface, which cuts down on fixing things later. Pickups are EMG or Schecter Diamond, depending on the model, so check which one you are choosing when you want a certain character on tape.

The line gives you a few ways to cover sessions. The 4-string C-4 is the straightforward choice for most tracking. The 5-string C-5 adds a low string for heavier productions, with no need for downtuning or a separate instrument. Standard models come in Charcoal Satin and Tobacco Burl, GT versions add glow-top flamed maple, and the C-4 Plus and Apex sit higher up.

Prices run from about $449 to $1,199, so there is a path from a first studio bass to a more serious tracking tool. Studio Gears lists the current selection below.
