Description
SABIAN 18" AAX ROCKTAGON
The AAX Rocktagon delivers an immediate, cutting crash with a distinctive octagonal profile that cuts through dense mixes. Its thin crash weight and raw un-hammered bell produce a nasty attack followed by quick decay, making it equally effective as a primary crash or layered effects cymbal in your session toolkit. The pinpoint lathing and thicker raw bell enable strong, articulate accents without sacrificing the brightness that defines the AAX series—essential for capturing punchy, defined cymbal articulation across rock, metal, and hard-hitting genres.
Recording & Mix Character
This cymbal cuts through with an aggressive, immediate crash and quick decay ideal for tracking rock and hard-hitting styles. The raw un-hammered bell paired with pinpoint lathing creates presence and punch in the recorded track, while the 8-sided shape reinforces a focused, defined response that sits distinctly in your stereo field without muddying adjacent frequencies. Works exceptionally well as a layering tool or isolated effects cymbal for editorial control in mixing.
Construction & Design
Built from B-20 bronze, the Rocktagon combines traditional cymbal metallurgy with the distinctive octagonal geometry revived from the original 1980s design. The thicker raw bell is engineered for strong bell accents and added projection without requiring heavy stick work—preserving capture clarity across both live tracking and close-miked studio sessions.
