Sound & Tone
Dual Nordstrand Big Single pickups give this five-string an open, punchy single-coil voice with strong midrange presence and clear note separation, while the mahogany body and walnut/panga panga/maple top add warmth and body beneath the attack. The 3-band EQ with switchable 250Hz, 450Hz and 700Hz mid points lets you push growl for rock and fusion or scoop back for cleaner fingerstyle and slap work, and the EQ bypass drops you into the raw pickup tone. With a 34" scale, 16.5mm string spacing and 24 frets, the low B stays defined and tight, making it well suited to funk, gospel, modern rock and session playing where articulate technique across the full range matters.
Ibanez SR1355BDUF Premium 5 String Bass Dual Mocha Burst Flat Open Box
The SR1355BDUF delivers the signature slim, fast neck that defines the SR series, paired with premium construction engineered for studio sessions and tracking versatility. The 34" scale and carefully contoured Atlas 5 profile keep your hand comfortable through extended recording takes, while the mahogany body with walnut/panga panga/maple top maintains manageable weight without sacrificing tonal depth. This is professional-grade bass design—built for producers and engineers who demand reliability and consistent performance across diverse projects.
Playability & Recording Comfort
The 5-piece panga panga/purpleheart neck with KTS titanium rods stays locked in under the demands of session work and overdubs, while the 45mm nut width and carefully profiled neck (19.5mm at the 1st fret, 21.5mm at the 12th) keep your hand positioned efficiently across the range. Twenty-four medium frets with Premium Fret Edge Treatment deliver smooth articulation and precision in recordings, with bound panga panga fretboard and abalone oval inlays marking positions clearly for visual reference during takes. String spacing sits at 16.5mm, giving you definition and control for tight, focused bass tracking.
Tone & Recording Electronics
Dual Nordstrand Big Single pickups paired with Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ and a 3-way mid frequency switch (250Hz, 450Hz, 700Hz) let you sculpt your bass tone across different song arrangements—essential for adapting to varied track requirements and sitting perfectly in the mix. An EQ bypass switch engages pure pickup tone when you want natural character. Gotoh machine heads and the MR5S bridge with adjustable saddles hold their tune across multiple tracking sessions, keeping intonation rock-solid from first pass to final comp. The Graph Tech Black Tusq XL nut ensures clear articulation and consistent sustain across all five strings.
