Sound & Tone
The chambered basswood body and multi-scale headless design give this five-string a focused, resonant voice with a tight, clearly defined low B, since the fanned frets bring more tension to the bottom string. Fishman Fluence active pickups with a 3-band EQ, a 3-way voice select and push-pull single-coil mode cover a wide range of voicings, from thick humbucking weight to leaner, more articulate single-coil tones, with the 630Hz mid control useful for cutting through or sitting back in a mix. The panga panga and walnut neck, stainless frets and individual Monorail bridges add clarity and note separation that suit modern rock and metal, progressive playing, fingerstyle and slap, and session work where a clean, tunable low end matters.
Ibanez EHB5MSBSP 5-String Headless Bass in Midnight Arctic Ocean Matte
The EHB5MSBSP is a modern multi-scale headless bass engineered for studio tracking and session work. Its chambered basswood body with ergonomic slanted back minimizes fatigue during extended recording takes, while the compact headless construction delivers exceptional tonal depth and resonance in a highly portable form factor ideal for mobile and home-studio applications.
Playability & Recording Comfort
The 9-piece panga panga and walnut neck with graphite reinforcement provides the stability and responsiveness needed for consistent tracking across the full dynamic range. With a 500mm (20-inch) fingerboard radius, 24 stainless steel fanned frets, and multi-scale construction, this design accommodates the lower B-string with ideal tension while maintaining comfortable playability on the higher strings. The panga panga fretboard, double cutaway body with prominent upper horn, acrylic position markers, and luminescent side dots support extended reach and intuitive navigation during long studio sessions.
Electronics & Tone Shaping for Mix Integration
Fishman Fluence active pickups paired with a Fishman 3-band EQ featuring mid control centered at 630Hz enable precise tone-shaping to sit the bass in any mix context. The 3-way voice select switch and single coil mode switch (push-pull) provide flexible character selection across multiple tonal palettes, allowing quick sonic adjustments within a session. The individual Monorail V HS bridges with adjustable string spacing ensure precise intonation and consistent tonal clarity across takes, while a locking Neutrik output jack guarantees reliable, noise-free signal transmission to your interface.
