Description
Sound & Tone
The mahogany body and set-thru neck give this single-cut a thick, warm foundation, while the active EMG 81 in the bridge cuts through with tight, aggressive attack and the EMG 85 in the neck stays smooth and vocal for leads. The 24.75" scale adds a little slack and midrange thickness to the strings, and the fixed TOM-style bridge keeps notes focused and sustaining with solid tuning stability. That combination points squarely at hard rock and metal — chugging rhythm work, high-gain leads, and low-noise recording — though the neck pickup and master tone control leave room for cleaner, rounder passages when you back off the gain.
ESP LTD EC-400 QM Vintage Burst
The EC-400 QM tracks with articulate precision in the studio, its set-thru construction and thin U-profile neck delivering a responsive platform for capturing clean takes and layered arrangements. This solidbody electric balances the warmth of mahogany with the visual appeal of a quilted maple top, finished in classic Vintage Burst with binding accents. Built for recording sessions that demand tonal clarity, tuning stability, and reliable performance across multiple genres.
Recording Feel & Control
The 24.75" scale length and thin U neck profile reduce hand fatigue during long tracking sessions while maintaining structural integrity for consistent playback and re-takes. A 350mm fingerboard radius with 22 extra-jumbo frets ensures accurate intonation during overdubs and clean note definition across rhythm and lead parts.
Tone & Studio Electronics
Active EMG 81 bridge and EMG 85 neck pickups capture punchy, noise-free signals that sit cohesively in dense mixes, performing equally well in high-gain productions and clean vocal-guitar arrangements. The TOM-style bridge with tailpiece and fixed design eliminate tuning drift between takes and preserve tight harmonic content, while dual volume and master tone controls streamline EQ shaping during tracking and mixing phases.

What genres and playing styles is this guitar best for?
This guitar excels in metal, hard rock, progressive, studio sessions, and live performance. The high-output, articulate tone and structural integrity make it less suited to folk, traditional jazz, or country styles.
How does the neck feel and what are the key construction details?
The 24.75" scale length and thin U-profile neck minimize hand fatigue during extended playing sessions. The three-piece mahogany set-thru construction reinforces structural integrity, while the 350mm fingerboard radius paired with 22 extra-jumbo frets ensures consistent intonation and fast, comfortable playability across rhythm and lead work.
What pickups and electronics are included?
The EC-400QM features active EMG 81 (bridge) and EMG 85 (neck) pickups, which deliver punchy, articulate output with minimal noise across high-gain and clean applications. Control layout includes dual volume, master tone, and a three-way toggle switch for intuitive tone shaping.
