Description
Sound & Tone
A mahogany body and set-thru mahogany neck give this guitar a warm, thick foundation with strong sustain, while the macassar ebony fingerboard adds snap and definition to each note. The active EMG 81 in the bridge delivers tight, articulate attack and cutting high-end clarity that holds together under heavy gain, making it well suited to hard rock, metal, and fast riffing, while the EMG 60 in the neck offers a rounder, smoother voice for leads and cleaner passages. With a 24.75" scale, 24 extra jumbo frets, and a locking TonePros bridge for stable intonation, it favors players who want a focused, high-output sound for expressive bends and technical soloing.
ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 VB – Vintage Black
The EC-1000 VB delivers a neck that responds immediately to technique—the thin U-contour mahogany neck and 24-fret macassar ebony fingerboard create a recording-friendly playing experience that translates articulate finger work directly into the DAW. Set-thru construction locks the neck solidly into a mahogany body that contours naturally against your torso, eliminating fatigue during extended tracking sessions. This is a professional-grade instrument built for consistency and precision when capturing takes that matter.
Playability & Tracking Performance
The 24.75" scale and 42mm nut width strike an ideal balance for both speed and comfort, while the 24 XJ (Extra Jumbo) frets provide wide spacing for precise intonation and effortless bending without fret noise in the recording chain. The thin U-contour neck profile sits comfortably in your hand without sacrificing structural rigidity—a design choice that pays dividends during long tracking sessions and complex passages where repeatability matters.
Tone & Recording Clarity
The pairing of an active EMG 81 bridge pickup and EMG 60 neck pickup delivers the articulate high-end definition and responsive midrange presence that cuts through dense mixes without need for excessive EQ. The TonePros locking TOM bridge maintains intonation stability across multiple takes, while the LTD locking tuners ensure your tuning stays locked in during intense playing or frequent string bending—critical for overdub sessions and punch-ins.

Frequently Asked Questions
What skill level is this guitar designed for?
The EC-1000 VB is built for intermediate to professional players who are comfortable with fast technique, complex passages, and the demands of touring or session work. The thin U-contour neck and 24 XJ frets reward precision playing, and the overall construction is designed for players who push their instruments hard.
What genres does this guitar work best in?
This guitar excels in hard rock, metal, progressive, and studio session work where articulate tone and tight sustain are essential. It is not designed for folk, traditional jazz, or acoustic-focused playing.
What pickups does it have and how do they sound?
The EC-1000 VB features an active EMG 81 bridge pickup and EMG 60 neck pickup that deliver articulate high-end clarity and responsive midrange presence. The combination cuts through any mix and provides high output ideal for heavy music.
How does the set-thru construction affect tone and sustain?
Set-thru construction locks the neck solidly into the mahogany body for maximum sustain and resonance, giving you the tight, focused tone needed for heavy playing. This design also increases overall structural rigidity and stability during intense playing or frequent string bending.
