Description
EMG SJX Active Bass Pickup in Black
The EMG SJX is a compact active pickup engineered to deliver clarity and controlled output for recording and tracking sessions where dynamic range and articulate note definition matter. Its radiused ceramic magnet design captures punchy midrange articulation across the full spectrum, while the integrated X Series preamp provides the low-noise performance essential for clean tracking and mixing-friendly signals. This pickup translates aggressive modern tones into the precision-controlled sources serious production work requires.
Tone & Electronics
The SJX produces a 2.00V output with a 3.95 kHz resonant frequency, yielding punchy midrange articulation that cuts through dense mixes during slap, pick, and finger technique tracking. The -101 dB noise floor and 10 kΩ output impedance ensure clean signal transmission to your interface, preamp, or mixing console, eliminating the hum and phase issues that compromise recording clarity and require troubleshooting in post.
Design & Build
Measuring 91.19mm long and 18.54mm wide, the SJX fits standard jazz and precision bass routes with a maximum recommended string width of 69.2mm. The prewired control set includes a solid shaft volume/active tone control, output jack, and battery clip, all ready for drop-in installation; the included Quik-Connect™ cable speeds setup and ensures reliable connectivity during instrument changes and session prep.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this pickup fit my bass?
