Description
EMG SAV Active Single Coil Pickup in White
The EMG SAV delivers a bright, articulate voice with the clarity of a true single-coil design and the reliability of EMG's active circuitry. This pickup pairs vintage aesthetics with modern electronics, offering a balanced output that cuts through dense mixes without sacrificing definition. The white finish integrates seamlessly into classic or contemporary instrument builds for consistent studio aesthetics.
Tone & Output Character
With a resonant frequency of 3.75 kHz and 0.7 V RMS output, the SAV produces a focused midrange presence that sits well in both clean and driven tracking scenarios. The overwound single-coil design paired with hidden Alnico 5 pole pieces yields extended harmonic content while maintaining the brightness that translates clearly during mixing and post-production. This tonal character records exceptionally well across a range of amp settings and mic placements.
Power & Specifications
This active design draws 240 microamps at 9V and delivers approximately 1000 hours of battery life per charge, eliminating mid-session power concerns during long tracking days. The –90 dBV output noise floor and 10 kΩ output impedance ensure a clean signal path to your interface or amp with minimal noise—critical for capturing articulate takes and maintaining mix clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions
What skill level is this pickup for?
The EMG SAV suits beginners through professionals. Its active circuitry and low noise make it forgiving for newer players, while its articulate tone and reliable performance appeal to experienced musicians tracking in the studio or gigging live.
What styles and tones does it excel at?
It's optimized for clean tones, pop, rock, and studio sessions where articulation and midrange presence matter. The bright, focused character works well for driven tones too, but it is not designed for metal or drop-tuning applications.
What's included in the box?
The pickup comes with an EMG Quik-Connect cable, prewired volume and tone control set, output jack, battery clip, screws, springs, and mounting hardware—everything needed for installation.
How long does the battery last?
A single 9V battery provides approximately 1000 hours of playing time, which translates to many weeks of regular use before replacement is needed.
How does it compare to passive single-coil pickups?
The EMG SAV delivers the bright, articulate response of a quality single coil but adds active circuitry for a much lower noise floor (–90 dBV), consistent output, and improved signal transmission to your amp or interface without the hum typical of passive designs.
