Description
EMG S/S/60A Active Single Coil Pickup Set in Ivory
This pickup set combines the clarity and responsiveness of single-coil designs in the neck and middle positions with the power and sustain of a humbucker in the bridge, delivering versatile tonal range across the neck. The active EMG circuitry provides consistent output, reduced noise, and a direct, articulate response that cuts through dense mixes. Built for recording and mixing scenarios that demand articulation in cleaner passages and aggressive punch in high-gain applications.
Electronics & Tonal Character
The active EMG design uses integrated preamps to maintain tight signal integrity, eliminate hum, and provide a focused midrange punch without the noise floor that passive pickups accumulate. The neck and middle positions deliver single-coil clarity with controlled treble ideal for layered rhythm tracks, while the bridge 60A humbucker adds body and compressed sustain for lead overdubs and palm-muted sections.
Recording & Session Setup
This three-pickup configuration fits standard Stratocaster routing with standard single-coil and humbucker cavities. EMG active pickups require a 9V battery system (included with most EMG active preamps), and the ivory finish complements both vintage and modern instrument aesthetics while remaining visually neutral in session documentation.

At a Glance
The EMG S/S/60A hybrid set gives home and professional studio producers the clarity of single coils in the neck and middle positions paired with the body and sustain of a 60A bridge humbucker, all wrapped in active preamp circuitry that keeps noise floor low and output tight. The reduced hum and consistent signal integrity make tracking cleaner; the articulate midrange punch and focused attack sit well in dense mixes without muddiness. Record everything from clean passages to heavily distorted leads in one Stratocaster setup without switching instruments or dealing with passive pickup noise.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the single-coil positions and the bridge humbucker?
The neck and middle positions deliver single-coil clarity with controlled treble for articulate clean tones, while the bridge 60A humbucker adds body, compressed sustain, and aggressive punch for lead work and power chords. The active preamps ensure balanced output and tight signal integrity across all three positions without the noise accumulation of passive designs.
Will this fit my Stratocaster?
Yes, this set uses standard Stratocaster routing with single-coil cavities in the neck and middle and a humbucker cavity in the bridge. You will need a 9V battery system for the active preamps to function.
How much noise reduction does active EMG circuitry provide?
Active EMG electronics with integrated preamps significantly reduce hum and eliminate the noise floor that builds up with passive pickups, especially important in high-gain applications and dense studio mixes. The tight signal integrity and focused midrange punch remain clean even under heavy distortion.
What genres and playing styles is this set built for?
The S/S/60A excels in hard rock, metal, progressive, and studio session work. It is not designed for jazz or folk applications where single-coil warmth and organic response take priority over tight, articulate attack.
Does this set come with a battery and preamp wiring?
The pickup set itself is the three-pickup configuration; most EMG active preamp systems include a 9V battery and necessary wiring harness, which you should verify with your specific preamp order or installation kit.
