Description
EMG LJAX Active Bass Pickup in Black
The EMG LJAX is a compact, high-output bridge pickup engineered to capture articulate, punchy bass tones with fast transient response—ideal for tracking sessions where clarity and definition cut through dense mixes. Built on the proven Alnico V radiused magnet platform, this active pickup delivers the transparent midrange and tight low-end attack that modern recording chains demand. The solderless design and included prewired control set streamline studio setup, keeping session time focused on performance rather than wiring.
Design & Build
Measuring 93.99mm (3.70") in length and 18.54mm (0.73") in width, this pickup installs into standard bridge positions across most bass configurations. The maximum recommended string width of 69.2mm (2.725") accommodates four and five-string instruments, and the radiused magnet structure ensures balanced pickup response across all strings—eliminating dead zones that muddy recordings.
Electronics & Power
The X-Series preamp operates on a single 9V battery and eliminates the soft limiter found in previous EMG designs, preserving full dynamic range and peak headroom during takes. Powered by the included battery clip set, the system requires no external power and maintains consistent output across the entire battery lifespan—critical for maintaining tonal consistency across overdub sessions.
