Description
EMG HA Active Single Coil Pickup in Brushed Chrome
The EMG HA delivers single-coil clarity and snap in a compact humbucker housing, bridging the gap between vintage response and modern noise rejection. Its active design produces articulate highs and controlled lows without the hum that plagues passive single coils, making it essential for recording sessions where definition and isolation are non-negotiable. The brushed chrome finish adds visual distinction while the noiseless circuit ensures studio-grade cleanliness across tracking and mixing stages, whether capturing direct or blended tones.
Recording Tone & Electronics
Built around an Alnico magnet and active circuitry, this pickup achieves a 4.05 kHz resonant frequency that emphasizes upper-midrange articulation and string separation—critical for cutting through dense arrangements without sacrificing detail. Output sits at 1.00 V per single string and 3.00 V full strum, delivering responsive dynamics with an exceptionally low noise floor of −101 dB at 60 Hz—effectively eliminating electromagnetic interference while preserving tonal nuance during multitrack recording and overdubs.
Studio Installation & Session Workflow
The solderless installation system streamlines guitar prep for tracking sessions, while the included 25k volume and tone potentiometers, battery bus, stereo output jack, and mounting hardware provide a complete signal chain ready for the control room. Battery life runs approximately 600 hours at 9V, with support for supply voltages up to 27V DC for extended headroom in high-output applications—keeping your tone consistent across long session days without power interruptions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this pickup fit my guitar?
The EMG HA is housed in a standard humbucker-size format, so it fits any guitar with a humbucker cavity. Installation uses EMG's solderless system and includes all required electronics (battery bus, volume/tone potentiometers, stereo output jack, and mounting hardware).
How long does the battery last?
Battery life is approximately 600 hours at 9V supply. The pickup also supports supply voltages up to 27V DC for extended headroom if you prefer higher voltage operation.
Does this pickup eliminate hum in noisy environments?
Yes—the active circuit achieves an output noise floor of −101 dB @ 60 Hz, effectively eliminating electromagnetic interference and hum that plagues passive single coils while preserving tonal nuance and clarity.
How does the EMG HA compare to passive single coils?
The HA delivers single-coil articulation and string separation but with the noise rejection of active circuitry. Its 4.05 kHz resonant frequency emphasizes upper-midrange articulation and definition, making it ideal for studio sessions, home recording, live performance, and extended-range playing.
What output level should I expect?
Output is 1.00 V per single string and 3.00 V on a full strum, with responsive dynamics and an exceptionally low noise floor. Output impedance is 10 Kohm and current draw is 400 microamps at 9V.
