Description
EMG H Long Shaft Active Single Coil Pickup in Black Chrome
The EMG H is a versatile active single-coil pickup housed in a humbucker-sized format, capturing clarity and articulation without the hum traditionally associated with single-coil designs. Its long shaft configuration accommodates deeper mounting applications, making it a direct fit for specific guitar architectures. The black chrome finish maintains a professional studio aesthetic while the active circuitry ensures consistent output and low noise across tracking sessions and multiple takes.
Tone & Recording Character
This active pickup features a ceramic magnet and produces a wide frequency response characterized by brightness and clarity with rich harmonic content. The active design eliminates 60-cycle hum while maintaining the transparent, articulate single-coil character, making it ideal for capturing definition in lead passes, clean tones, and production styles demanding high-resolution detail that sits well in dense mixes.
Installation & Session Setup
The long shaft design fits guitars requiring extended pole-piece height. EMG includes a Quik-Connect cable, a prewired split shaft volume and tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, and mounting hardware, streamlining installation and ensuring proper wiring from the outset. Quick setup means more time tracking and experimenting with tones.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the long shaft configuration mean, and will it fit my guitar?
The long shaft design accommodates guitars requiring extended pole-piece height for deeper mounting applications. Check your guitar's pickup cavity depth before ordering—this is a direct fit for specific architectures that need that extra clearance.
Does this pickup have the hum problems of traditional single-coils?
No. The active circuitry eliminates 60-cycle hum while preserving the transparent, articulate single-coil character. It delivers noise-free performance without sacrificing the tonal definition that makes single-coils desirable.
What tone character should I expect?
Bright, articulate, and transparent with rich harmonic content. The ceramic magnet and active design make it excellent for lead work and clean tones; it's optimized for definition and clarity rather than heavy saturation.
What's included in the box?
Quik-Connect cable, prewired split shaft volume and tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, and mounting hardware. Everything needed for installation is included.
Is this pickup suitable for metal or heavy styles?
The EMG H is designed for lead work, clean tones, and styles demanding high definition. It is not optimized for heavy metal or thrash metal applications where darker, more compressed tones are typical.
