Description
EMG BQS System
The EMG BQS System is a professional-grade active preamp engineered for recording and production work with EMG pickups. Its intuitive 5-knob layout delivers surgical tone control in both tracking and mixing contexts, providing the precise EQ shaping and signal conditioning that modern home studios and professional recording environments demand.
Electronics & Tone Control
This system delivers precise equalization across three bands: ±10 dB bass, ±12 dB treble, and ±12 dB mid with a variable mid-frequency control spanning 100Hz to 1KHz. All EQ controls and the blend control feature center detents, allowing you to dial in your tone with confidence and return to neutral settings by feel. The integrated balance control provides seamless pickup blending, giving you access to a full spectrum of tonal possibilities for different recording sessions and mix scenarios.
Recording Performance & Specifications
Built for clean, noise-free tracking, the BQS System draws only 1.5 milliamps at 9V for an impressive 170-hour battery life—ideal for extended studio sessions without interruption. Output noise measures -96 dBV with an output impedance of 200 Ohms, ensuring transparent signal transmission to your interface, mixer, or amplifier. The system supports up to 27 DC volts for extended headroom and dynamic range in capture-critical applications.

How long does the battery last, and what's the current draw?
The system draws only 1.5 milliamps at 9V and delivers approximately 170 hours of battery life per charge. It also supports up to 27 DC volts if you need extended headroom for higher output levels.
What controls does the BQS System have?
The 5-knob layout includes a blend control (pickup balance), master volume, separate bass and treble controls, and a concentric mid-frequency knob. All EQ controls and the blend control feature center detents for repeatable settings and easy return to neutral by feel.
What is the EQ range for each band?
Bass offers ±10 dB of cut or boost, treble provides ±12 dB, and the variable mid control delivers ±12 dB with a frequency range spanning 100Hz to 1KHz, giving you precise control over the midrange character.
Is the output noise low enough for recording and live use?
Yes. The system outputs at -96 dBV with 200-ohm impedance, ensuring clean signal transmission to your amplifier or recording interface without introducing unwanted noise into your tone.
