Description
EMG 85-7HX 7-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Gold
The EMG 85-7HX captures the tight, articulate transients essential to modern extended-range recording. This active humbucker sits perfectly balanced between aggressive gain and studio clarity, making it equally effective for high-gain metal sessions and contemporary progressive contexts. The brushed gold finish adds visual distinction while the solderless wiring system ensures straightforward installation without soldering hassle.
Tone & Output Character
A resonant frequency of 2.55 kHz combined with Alnico V magnets produces a focused, punchy midrange that cuts through dense mix contexts. The 1.25V RMS output and 1.75V peak output deliver sufficient gain for high-headroom tracking while maintaining clarity across the frequency spectrum, backed by -89 dBV output noise for a clean signal path to your interface or preamp.
Power & Installation
This active design runs on a single 9V battery with an exceptional 3000-hour battery life, minimizing session interruptions and rig changes. The integrated solderless wiring system eliminates the need for a soldering iron, making drop-in installation accessible regardless of technical experience level, so you can focus on tracking rather than troubleshooting.
