Description
EMG 81-7X 7-String Active Soapbar Pickup in Ivory
The EMG 81-7X is engineered to capture tight, articulate tone on 7-string instruments with the controlled aggression that cuts through dense mixes. This active humbucker maintains definition and punch across extended-range tunings, delivering clean signal integrity even at high gain settings—critical for layered rhythm tracks and lead parts that need to sit forward in a mix. The smooth-top soapbar housing pairs a professional aesthetic with the solderless quick-connect system, streamlining setup in your recording rig.
Recording Tone & Signal Performance
The pickup delivers 1.25V RMS output with 1.75V peak voltage, providing punchy transient response and articulate definition across the frequency spectrum. A 2.25 kHz resonant frequency emphasizes midrange clarity—ideal for tracking and mixing sessions where extended-range instruments must maintain presence without muddiness. -91 dBV output noise ensures a clean signal path for processing and stacking multiple takes without accumulated noise floor degradation.
Studio Integration & Reliability
Powered by a single 9V battery with 3000-hour lifespan, the 81-7X minimizes session interruptions and cable complexity. Ceramic magnet construction provides consistent tone reproduction across recording sessions. The EMG Quik-connect solderless terminals simplify instrument swaps and tracking workflows, while the included 25k volume pot, active tone control (VLPF), and complete wiring harness arrive ready for integration with minimal setup required.
