Description
EMG 81-7H Long Shaft 7-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Gold
The EMG 81-7H captures aggressive, defined transients that cut through dense mixes in extended-range sessions. This ceramic-magnet active humbucker excels in bridge or neck positions, delivering tight low-end articulation and responsive midrange clarity across all seven strings. The brushed gold finish adds visual sophistication while the long shaft configuration accommodates standard pot assemblies without modification.
Tone & Output Character
Output runs at 3.00V RMS / 4.50V peak with a 1,630 Hz resonant frequency, ensuring punchy defined notes that sit clearly in downtuned mixes. The 10 kΩ output impedance and ceramic magnet design produce the compressed, controlled response that tracks palm mutes and dynamic palm-muting articulation with precision—essential for modern metal and progressive recording.
Active Electronics & Power
Running from a single 9V battery, this pickup draws only 80 µA, yielding approximately 3,000 hours of battery life between changes. The self-powered design eliminates passive tone-stack loading and ensures consistent output regardless of cable length or interface impedance, critical for maintaining headroom and clarity across tracking and overdub sessions.
