EMG 808X 8-String Active Soapbar Pickup in Ivory

The 808X is specifically designed and voiced for 8-string instruments, delivering enhanced articulation and extended dynamic range optimized for extended-range tunings. It combines Alnico 5 magnets with active circuitry and includes an integrated active tone pot with variable low-pass filter for greater real-time shaping control.

EMG's solderless connection system is fully included—no soldering required. The pickup ships with volume pot, tone pot, battery bus, output jack, mounting screws, and all necessary cables for a complete, straightforward installation.

The 808X excels in metal, djent, progressive, and other extended-range styles where tight articulation, high output, and clarity through dense tunings are essential. It is not optimized for jazz, blues, or folk applications.

Yes, the 808X is designed for all pickup positions and maintains full compatibility across bridge, middle, and neck locations. The compact soapbar dimensions (101.6 mm width, 38.1 mm height) fit standard 8-string routing with 95.3 mm mounting screw spacing.

The integrated active VLPF (variable low-pass filter) tone pot lets you shape tone in real time, from bright, punchy attacks to darker, controlled voicings. The 25k volume potentiometer gives you additional output control for consistent levels across tunings.
