Description
EMG 707X 7-String Active Soapbar Pickup in White
The EMG 707X captures the extended-range clarity and headroom that seven-string tracking demands, with a refined active circuit that preserves natural dynamics rather than compressing them. Built on EMG's proven X-Series architecture, this pickup balances aggressive articulation with responsive feel, tracking tight equally well in low tunings or standard drop-tuned sessions. The white soapbar housing fits standard EMG cavities and integrates seamlessly into existing studio rigs.
Tone & Electronics
The Alnico V magnet structure with wide-aperture coils delivers extended frequency response and string-to-string definition across all seven strings—critical for keeping each string sitting independently in dense mixes. The low-impedance X-preamp circuit operates at 10 Kohm output impedance and produces 2.00V single-string output and 4.50V strummed output, giving you passive-like dynamic feel without the noise floor of unpowered designs, so your recordings stay clean through your signal chain.
Installation & Workflow
This pickup ships with EMG's Solderless Install System, eliminating downtime in your session—connections snap into place without iron work. The package includes a split shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, screws, and springs; operation requires a single 9V battery that draws only 80 microamps, extending battery life considerably between changes and keeping your rig stable during long tracking days.

At a Glance
The EMG 707X is an active extended-range humbucker designed to capture articulate, defined tone with minimal noise and genuine dynamic responsiveness—ideal for recording aggressive 7-string guitars in metal, djent, and progressive sessions where clarity and string separation matter. Its low-impedance X-preamp circuit delivers 2.00V single-string and 4.50V strummed output with a passive-like feel, letting you track natural pick dynamics without compression artifacts that muddy layered guitars. Quick Solderless installation means fast setup in the studio, and a single 9V battery (80 microamp draw) keeps replacement intervals long between sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pickup suitable for standard and drop tunings on a 7-string?
Yes. The 707X is engineered for both standard and heavily drop-tuned 7-string work, with extended frequency response and articulate definition across all seven strings regardless of tuning depth.
What's included, and do I need soldering experience to install it?
The package includes the pickup, Solderless Install System, split shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, screws, and springs. No soldering is required—all connections snap into place.
How long does a 9V battery last in this pickup?
The 707X draws only 80 microamps, which extends battery life considerably between changes compared to standard active designs; exact lifespan depends on playing volume and frequency.
What's the tone character compared to passive 7-string pickups?
The X-preamp circuit delivers passive-like dynamic feel without the noise floor of unpowered designs, providing articulate and defined tone with tight responsiveness and low noise across extended-range frequencies.
Will this fit my existing 7-string guitar cavity?
Yes, if your guitar has a standard EMG 35 soapbar cavity, the 707X fits directly without modification. Confirm your current cavity is EMG-spec before purchasing.
Do I pay sales tax on this order?
