Description
EMG 66-7H Long Shaft 7-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Black
The EMG 66-7H is a voiced neck-position humbucker engineered for seven-string instruments, delivering articulate low-end response without muddiness. This active pickup excels at capturing definition across extended range tunings while maintaining the clarity needed for modern metal, progressive, and extended-range work. The compact form factor integrates seamlessly into seven-string guitar cavities.
Tone & Electronics
Pairing Alnico V magnets with ceramic pole pieces, the 66-7H achieves a balanced frequency response centered at 1.61 kHz resonant frequency, emphasizing articulation and note separation. The active design draws just 400 microamps per set at 9V, yielding approximately 600 hours of battery life and supporting supply voltages up to 27V DC per set for users requiring higher headroom.
Installation & Compatibility
This pickup ships with EMG's solderless installation system, including 25k volume and tone potentiometers, battery bus, output jack, and pre-terminated cables—eliminating soldering requirements for plug-and-play integration. The 3.5 x 1.5 inch housing dimensions conform to the seven-string extended series cap standard, ensuring proper fit in modern seven-string cavities.
