Description
EMG 60 Brushed Gold Active Humbucker Pickup
The EMG 60 in brushed gold delivers a balanced, articulate voice that bridges vintage character with modern active clarity. This covered humbucker excels in neck position, capturing warm midrange presence without sacrificing definition—ideal for productions that demand controlled sustain and edge-free harmonic response across genres. Tracks cut through mixes while maintaining natural warmth.
Tone & Electronics
Active circuitry provides a 1.0V RMS output with peak voltage reaching 3.0V, ensuring consistent signal integrity without noise coloration across overdub sessions and punch-ins. The ceramic magnet construction and 2.95 kHz resonant frequency produce smooth, naturally compressed tone with excellent sustain and reduced microphonic feedback—essential traits for both high-gain and clean recording applications. Delivers transparent tracking and predictable performance in the mix.
Build & Specifications
The covered design in brushed gold offers visual sophistication while protecting internal components and reducing electromagnetic interference—crucial for eliminating hum in dense multitrack sessions. Powered by a single 9V battery with approximately 3000 hours of battery life, this pickup draws minimal current at 80 microamps, making it efficient for extended studio work between battery changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What pickup position is this designed for?
This is a neck position pickup configured for 6-string guitars. The long shaft design fits standard EMG mounting footprints and works best paired with a bridge pickup to balance your guitar's overall tonal character.
How long does the 9V battery last?
The single 9V battery delivers approximately 3000 hours of playtime before needing replacement. At 80 microamps current draw, it's efficient enough for extended studio sessions and touring without draining quickly.
What genres and playing styles is this pickup best suited for?
The EMG 60A excels in hard rock, metal, progressive, and studio recording applications. Its warm midrange and smooth compression work well in high-gain and clean contexts, though it's not ideal for traditional jazz or folk where you may want more open, resonant passive response.
What's included in the package?
The pickup ships with a quick-connect cable, wiring harness, and a pre-wired split shaft volume and tone control set, so you have everything needed for installation.
How does this compare to passive humbuckers?
Active circuitry delivers 1.0V RMS output with peak voltage reaching 3.0V, ensuring consistent signal integrity and low noise at -89 dBV—eliminating the microphonic feedback and signal loss common in passive designs. You'll hear clearer definition and smoother sustain, especially under high-gain conditions.
