Description
EMG 60-8XH 8-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Black Chrome
The EMG 60-8XH delivers the balanced midrange character and articulate response that define the 60 series, engineered specifically for eight-string instruments. This active humbucker pairs tight, controlled output with the clarity needed to cut through dense tunings, making it an essential tool for producers and engineers tracking extended-range material who demand definition without sacrificing punch in the mix.
Recording & Tracking Performance
Close aperture coils with ceramic magnets produce a focused, controlled voice that sits well in the mix across high-gain and clean tracking scenarios. The X preamp provides added headroom and dynamic control, allowing transient detail to emerge during recording even at aggressive gain settings while maintaining the pickup's signature balanced midrange character—critical for post-production clarity and punch.
Installation & Studio Setup
This eight-string-specific design fits standard humbucker routing and ships with EMG's solderless wiring system for straightforward installation in your session instrument. A single 9V battery powers the active electronics, keeping the circuit simple and reliable without the bulk of multi-battery setups, minimizing downtime between takes and sessions.
