Description
EMG 60-8XH 8-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Black Chrome
The EMG 60-8XH captures articulate, controlled response across all eight strings with the clarity and extended top end of the original 60-8 combined with the added headroom and dynamic control of EMG's X preamp. Black chrome finish maintains the professional appearance expected in modern studio and live 8-string setups. This pickup excels in both clean and high-gain tracking applications, delivering precision without sacrificing tonal character.
Tone & Recording Characteristics
Close aperture coils loaded with ceramic magnets produce focused, punchy output with excellent string-to-string articulation essential for extended-range instruments. The X preamp architecture expands headroom and improves dynamic response compared to standard configurations, allowing the pickup to capture aggressive playing dynamics and complex harmonic content without saturation or loss of definition—critical for layered arrangements and dense mixes.
Studio Setup & Workflow
Complete assembly includes volume pot, tone pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, mounting hardware, and all necessary cables for straightforward integration into 8-string guitar configurations. Single 9V battery power with solderless quick-connect harness eliminates complicated wiring and enables fast battery swaps between tracking sessions or when switching instruments mid-session.
