Description
EMG 60-8H 8-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Black Chrome
The EMG 60-8H delivers the balanced, articulate midrange character of EMG's acclaimed 60 design, scaled and optimized for eight-string instruments. This active humbucker combines ceramic magnets with steel pole pieces arranged across a wider footprint to capture clean articulation and defined string separation across extended low tunings. The Black Chrome finish resists oxidation and fingerprints, maintaining appearance through repeated studio sessions and long-term use.
Design & Specifications
Built on a traditional humbucker shell with exposed pole pieces, the 60-8H mounts directly into standard eight-string humbucker routs without modification. The ceramic magnet construction with steel pole pieces ensures consistent output and tonal character across all eight strings, while the wider pole spacing maintains even response from the lowest extended strings to the highest treble strings.
Recording & Mixing Performance
This active pickup operates from a single 9V battery, providing stable headroom and controlled output levels essential for tracking and overdubbing without preamp compromise. The EMG solderless quick-connect harness simplifies instrument swaps during sessions and enables rapid experimentation with different pickup combinations or quick diagnostic work without interrupting workflow.
