Description
EMG 60-7X Long Shaft Active Soapbar Pickup in Black
The EMG 60-7X captures articulate, punchy response across extended-range tunings with its close aperture coil design and ceramic magnet construction. This active 7-string pickup excels in neck positions where its clarity and high-frequency emphasis cut through dense, low-tuned material without muddiness. The included X series preamp and solderless installation system streamline setup on most modern instruments, getting you tracking faster.
Tone & Recording Character
The 60-7X delivers abundant output with exceptional clarity and pronounced high frequencies—the brightest attack among EMG's 7-string humbucking lineup. Its close aperture coils maintain definition and separation even under aggressive playing or heavy compression, preserving articulation and presence in the mix.

Installation uses EMG's solderless system, eliminating the need for a soldering iron. The complete kit includes all necessary components: active tone control with variable low-pass filter (VLPF), 25k volume pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, two-pickup bus, mounting screws, cables for pickup connection and output, and battery integration.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the solderless installation system mean?
EMG's solderless system eliminates the need for a soldering iron; the complete kit includes a preamp, active tone control with variable low-pass filter, volume pot, battery bus, output jack, pickup cables, and all mounting hardware. You simply snap components together and route cables without any soldering work.
Is this pickup suited to jazz, blues, or traditional styles?
No; the 60-7X is optimized for metal, progressive, djent, and drop-tuning applications where its bright attack and high-frequency emphasis shine. Its character is designed for clarity in aggressive and compressed playing, not the warmth or vintage voicing those other genres demand.
Where should I mount this pickup in my 7-string?
The 60-7X is optimized for neck position placement, where its clarity and articulate response cut through dense, low-tuned material most effectively.
How does the 60-7X compare to other active 7-string pickups?
The 60-7X is the brightest attack among EMG's 7-string humbucking models and competes with the Seymour Duncan Blackouts 7-String, Fishman Fluence Modern 7-String, and DiMarzio Crunchlab 7 in the active extended-range space, distinguished by its pronounced high-frequency emphasis and tight definition in compressed signal chains.
