What comes in the box?

The EMG 60-7H ships with the pickup itself, a 25K volume potentiometer, 25K tone potentiometer, battery bus, stereo output jack, dual pickup in/out bus, all necessary cables, and complete mounting hardware for professional installation.

Is this pickup suitable for blues or jazz?

No—the 60-7H is voiced specifically for metal, progressive, and extended-range applications. Its articulate, midrange-focused character and active output are optimized for modern heavy tones and clarity in dense mixes, not the smooth, vintage warmth blues and traditional jazz players typically seek.

How long does the battery last?

The onboard 9V battery draws only 80 microamps, providing approximately 3000 hours of playable battery life per charge—roughly 4–6 months of regular gigging or studio use.

How does the output level compare to passive pickups?

The EMG 60-7H produces 1.0V RMS and 3.0V peak output with controlled dynamics and no excessive compression, allowing pick attack and nuance to translate clearly through amplifiers and recording interfaces without overwhelming preamps.

What skill level is this pickup designed for?

The 60-7H is built for intermediate, advanced, and professional players who have experience with extended-range instruments and want reliable, articulate tone for studio and live performance.

EMG 60-7H 7-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Black Chrome

The EMG 60-7H delivers the balanced warmth and articulation of EMG's 60 voicing in a configuration tailored for extended-range 7-string instruments. This active humbucker pairs responsive midrange clarity with controlled output, making it equally effective for modern heavy tones and nuanced lead work without sacrificing definition across the frequency spectrum—ideal for tracking sessions where every take needs consistent, recordable tone.

Tone & Output Character

Built on a ceramic magnet structure with close aperture coils, this pickup produces a midrange-focused voice that sits well in dense mixes while maintaining articulate note separation. The 1.0V RMS output and 3.0V peak output provide sufficient signal without excessive compression, allowing dynamics and pick attack to translate clearly through amplifiers and recording interfaces—essential for capturing the nuance that distinguishes one take from another during overdub sessions.

Active Electronics & Integration

The onboard active circuit runs on a 9V battery with an efficient 80 microamps current draw, delivering approximately 3000 hours of battery life per charge. The complete system ships with a 25K volume pot, 25K tone pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, and dual pickup in/out bus, plus all necessary cables and mounting hardware—everything needed for professional installation and seamless studio workflow.
