Description
EMG 57-7H Active Humbucker Pickup in Chrome
The EMG 57-7H captures articulate, focused midrange and tight low-end response in a compact bridge-position format engineered for 7-string recording sessions. This active humbucker pairs classic EMG character with the extended-range demands of modern production work, delivering clarity across all seven strings while maintaining the aggressive edge required for heavy styles—crucial when tracking guitars that need to cut through a dense mix without losing definition.
Tone & Electronics
Alnico V magnets paired with steel pole pieces generate the signature EMG palette—punchy mids, controlled treble, and articulate transient capture. The active circuit maintains consistent output and impedance across the full dynamic range, translating light fingerstyle passages and hard-struck rhythm takes into recordings with predictable, reliable response that engineers can mix with confidence on 7-string tunings.
Design & Build
The brushed chrome finish suits contemporary instrument styling, while the solderless installation system streamlines setup without requiring rewiring knowledge—critical for studios managing multiple instruments in active duty. All necessary components—volume and tone pots, battery bus, stereo output jack, two-pickup bus, mounting hardware, and pickup cable—ship included to support a complete active pickup system ready for session work.

What comes in the box?
The package includes the pickup itself, a 25k volume pot, a 25k tone pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, two-pickup bus, mounting screws and springs, and a pickup cable—everything needed to set up a complete active system.
Do I need soldering experience to install this?
No. The solderless installation system simplifies mounting without rewiring expertise, making it accessible for intermediate players and above who want to upgrade without professional help.
How does the EMG 57-7H compare to the Seymour Duncan Blackouts 7-String or Fishman Fluence Modern 7-String?
All three are active designs for extended-range instruments. The EMG 57-7H emphasizes punchy mids and articulate pick definition, while competitors may prioritize different tone shades—consult spec sheets and demo recordings to match your preferred midrange character and aggression level.
Can I use this in a multi-pickup configuration?
Yes. The included two-pickup bus accommodates multi-pickup setups, so you can pair this bridge pickup with an EMG neck model or other active pickup in the same guitar.
