Description
EMG 57-7H Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Gold
The EMG 57-7H captures the aggressive, articulate character of a classic active humbucker tailored for seven-string tracking and mixing. Built with Alnico V magnets and engineered for bridge-position clarity, this pickup cuts through dense tunings with defined transients and controlled sustain that translates cleanly to tape or digital. The brushed gold finish adds visual polish to your setup while the solderless installation system enables quick integration into any compatible instrument without studio downtime.
Tonal Character & Electronics
The 57-7H combines the punch of a traditional bridge humbucker with EMG's active circuitry, delivering tight, responsive output that sits forward in heavy rock and metal mixes. The included 25K volume and tone potentiometers provide session-ready control over aggression and EQ character—shape your tone at the source before hitting your preamp or interface.
Installation & Integration
Solderless installation keeps your instrument swap-ready for multi-track sessions; the included cable connectors and bus system integrate directly into the provided circuit board without requiring a soldering iron or tech downtime. Complete wiring harness components—stereo output jack, battery bus, pickup in/out bus, battery cable, and output cable—arrive pre-assembled and ready to deploy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pickup solderless, and what comes in the box?
Yes—the EMG 57-7H uses a solderless installation system with included cable connectors and bus system. The package includes a complete wiring harness (stereo output jack, battery bus, battery cable, pickup connectors, output cable), one 25K volume potentiometer, one 25K tone potentiometer, pickup cable, and mounting screws.
What tuning and playing styles is this pickup best for?
The 57-7H excels in metal, hard rock, and drop-tuned styles where tight low end and articulate attack are priorities. It is not optimized for jazz, blues, or folk—those styles benefit from different tonal characters.
How does the 57-7H compare to other seven-string bridge pickups?
The 57-7H sits between the EMG 81-7H (hotter output) and offers similar aggression to the Seymour Duncan Nazgûl-7 and DiMarzio Titan-7. Its Alnico V magnets and defined bridge clarity make it ideal for players who want cut-through without losing control in extended range setups.
Do I need to replace my entire guitar wiring to use this?
No—the solderless system integrates directly into the provided circuit board and bus connectors, so installation is straightforward without desoldering or hiring a tech.
What is the brushed gold finish, and is it purely cosmetic?
The brushed gold finish is a visual aesthetic choice that brings sophistication to the pickup's appearance; it does not affect tone or performance.
