Description
EMG 57/66 Active Humbucker Pickup Set in Gold
The EMG 57/66 pairing captures articulate, noise-free recordings across bridge and neck positions with the clarity of active electronics and the warmth of Alnico V magnets. This set excels in studio sessions where controlled dynamics and minimal hum preserve clean takes and polished mixes. The covered design and gold finish integrate seamlessly into professional instrument aesthetics.
Active Electronics & Output
Both pickups operate on an active 10K DC Resistance circuit drawing just 160 microamps at 9V, delivering exceptional battery life of approximately 1500 hours per charge—ideal for extended tracking sessions. The bridge pickup produces 3.00V string output and 4.50V strum output with a 2.11 KHz resonant frequency, while the neck matches those output levels at 1.61 KHz resonance—yielding balanced frequency response across both positions with -100 dB output noise floor for transparent, interference-free recordings.
Complete Integration Package
This set includes everything required for seamless integration into your instrument: matched 25K volume and tone potentiometers, a stereo output jack, battery bus, pickup and connector cables, and mounting hardware. The solderless connector system streamlines installation, while the included four connect cables and output/battery cables ensure proper signal routing without assembly complications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What output levels and noise floor does this set deliver?
The bridge pickup outputs 3.00V string / 4.50V strum with a 2.11 kHz resonant frequency, while the neck matches at 1.61 kHz resonance. Both achieve a -100 dB output noise floor, ensuring a clean signal even at high gain.
How long does a 9V battery last with these pickups?
Each pickup draws only 160 microamps at 9V, yielding approximately 1500 hours of battery life—roughly 2-3 months of regular playing.
What's included in this set, and do I need to solder?
The set includes matched 25K volume and tone potentiometers, stereo output jack, battery bus, pickup and connector cables, mounting hardware, and springs. The solderless 2-wire connector system eliminates the need to solder, simplifying installation.
Is the EMG 57/66 suitable for jazz or blues?
This set is designed for metal, hard rock, and progressive music where high output and controlled dynamics are prioritized. Jazz and blues players typically favor lower-output, single-coil, or passive designs for their tonal character.
How does this compare to other active humbucker options?
The EMG 57/66 competes with Seymour Duncan Blackouts, DiMarzio Fusion Edge, and Fishman Fluence Modern pickups. EMG's Alnico V magnets and tight resonance curve deliver warmth alongside articulation, while the complete wiring harness removes installation friction compared to aftermarket harnesses.
