Frequently asked questions
What tuning range does each guitar handle best?
The Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S works best in standard E tuning and half-step drops, with its 25.5" scale and tight-low tone. The PT EX is designed for drop D, drop C, and lower extended tunings thanks to its 27" baritone scale and extended low-end resonance.
Can the PT EX do shred like the Shredder?
The PT EX has 22 extra-jumbo frets supporting fast playing, but its 27" scale length and baritone design prioritize extended range over the compact speed optimizations of the Shredder. The Shredder's 24 X-Jumbo frets and narrower spacing are specifically engineered for technical shred passages.
Which has more tonal versatility?
The Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S offers more immediate tonal switching with its Sustainiac on/off toggle, dual volume controls, and active/passive hybrid electronics. The PT EX uses a simpler 5-way lever design, prioritizing direct signal path and natural pickup character over switching options.
What is the B-Stock notation on the PT EX?
B-Stock typically indicates the unit is a closeout, display model, or minor cosmetic return, sold at a discount. Functionality and structural integrity are full-warranty standard; cosmetic imperfections may be present.
