Frequently asked questions
Which pickup set is better for high-gain and metal playing?
The 57/66 active set is engineered for metal and high-gain contexts. Its higher output (3.00–4.50V), tight low end, articulate highs, and -100 dB noise floor make it ideal for aggressive styles. The Revelation-F is not recommended for metal due to its lower output and vintage-informed character.
Do I need a battery with either set?
The Revelation-F is passive and requires no battery. The 57/66 is active and requires a single 9V battery, which lasts approximately 1500 hours per charge with a 160 microamp current draw.
Which is easier to install?
The 57/66 features EMG's solderless Quik-Connect system, eliminating traditional wiring. The Revelation-F includes a complete wiring harness with pots but involves standard soldered installation. Both are suitable for intermediate to advanced players.
What is the main tonal difference?
The Revelation-F delivers balanced, articulate, vintage-informed warmth with smooth midrange and natural compression, suited to blues and jazz. The 57/66 provides tight low end, focused midrange, and aggressive articulate highs optimized for high-gain and metal styles.
