Connectivity & Networked Audio Architecture

The BLU-50 integrates into BSS Audio's BLU link digital audio network, supporting up to 48 channels of audio over standard Category 5e cabling at distances up to 100 meters, or over 10 kilometers using fiber media converters. A single bus can accommodate up to 60 compatible devices, making this ideal for expanding I/O across multiple rooms or building distributed recording rigs. The unit also features 12 control inputs, six logic outputs, and an RS-232 port for comprehensive system integration and automation control.

Audio Performance & Conversion Quality

The analog signal path delivers professional recording and mixing quality with four balanced inputs and four balanced outputs on removable Phoenix Mini Combicon connectors. Input gain is software configurable in 6dB steps up to +48dB per channel, with phantom power selectable per channel at 48V nominal for condenser microphones and active sources. Output specifications include +20dBu maximum level, 110dB dynamic range, and 0.005% THD typical at +4dBu. Pass-through latency is exceptionally low at 0.08ms at 48kHz, preserving timing accuracy when routing signals between tracking rooms or integrating with external processors.
