Description
AKG LC617 MD Beige Lavalier Microphone
The AKG LC617 MD is a miniature lavalier condenser microphone built for capturing clean vocal isolation in studio and location recording scenarios. Its diminutive form factor—just 0.75 inches long and weighing 5.3 grams—mounts securely without interfering with talent comfort or wardrobe, while its omnidirectional pickup ensures consistent vocal capture across the frequency spectrum. The beige finish remains visually neutral in frame during on-location dialogue and interview recording, making it practical for broadcast-quality vocal capture.
Audio Performance
This electret condenser capsule delivers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range with a 60 dB A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio and 34 dB equivalent noise level, capturing clean dialogue and voiceover work without unwanted noise floor. The 115 dB maximum SPL handles close-proximity speaking and raised vocal dynamics without distortion, while exceptional RF shielding protects against wireless interference during multi-channel recording sessions.
Design & Build
Built to handle real-world recording conditions, this microphone is both sweat resistant and moisture-resistant, making it reliable during extended wear and varied studio or location environments. The included cable clip and 2-pin Microdot connector with MDA1 AKG adapter integrate seamlessly with AKG wireless systems and professional audio chains.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between this lavalier and a standard studio microphone?
The LC617 MD is designed for hands-free speech reinforcement and wireless transmission, not music or detailed instrument recording. It uses an omnidirectional pattern to pick up consistent vocal tone from any angle, minimizes background noise, and prioritizes clarity and rejection of wind/handling noise over the tonal color a condenser would add to a singing voice or acoustic guitar.
Will this work with my wireless system?
Yes, the LC617 MD includes a 2-pin Microdot connector and MDA1 AKG adapter, which integrate directly with AKG wireless bodypack transmitters and professional audio chains. If you use a non-AKG wireless system, you'll need to confirm connector compatibility or source a compatible adapter.
How does it perform in humid or sweaty conditions?
The LC617 MD is specifically built with sweat and moisture-resistant construction, making it reliable during extended wear, physical performance, or humid venues. RF shielding also protects against wireless interference in professional environments.
What's included in the box?
The microphone, 2-pin Microdot connector with MDA1 AKG adapter, and a cable clip for secure attachment to clothing come in the package.
Is this suitable for singing or music performance?
No; the LC617 MD is engineered for speech clarity and presentation use, not music. Its omnidirectional pattern and neutral tone prioritize intelligibility over the tonal character needed for vocal or instrumental recording.
