Frequently asked questions
What's the main difference in scale length and why does it matter?
The Omen Extreme-5 LH has a 35-inch scale (standard for modern 5-string work), while the Stiletto Stealth-4 LH has a 34-inch scale (traditional 4-string standard). Longer scales provide tighter string tension and clearer definition on extended lower notes; shorter scales feel more compact and allow quicker hand transitions.
Can I play funk and rock on either bass?
Yes, both are suitable for funk and rock. The Stiletto Stealth-4 LH's versatile active EQ and punchy mids make it particularly adaptable across styles; the Omen Extreme-5 LH excels in these genres but adds extended low-end range from its fifth string and more aggressive tonal character.
Which is better for studio recording?
The Stiletto Stealth-4 LH is marketed specifically for studio sessions, with its lightweight construction, 2-band active EQ, and balanced warmth offering quick tonal adjustment during takes. The Omen Extreme-5 LH is more specialized toward live rock and metal work.
Are these beginner-friendly?
The Stiletto Stealth-4 LH lists beginner through professional skill levels and its compact scale make it more accessible for newer players. The Omen Extreme-5 LH is rated intermediate and up due to the 35-inch scale and advanced 5-string technique required.
