Frequently asked questions
What's the main difference between 6-string and 8-string for metal?
The Synyster Standard covers classic thrash and hard rock in standard tuning with proven responsiveness. The Omen Elite-8 adds two lower strings, enabling drop tunings and modern djent voicings that are harder to achieve on 6-string guitars.
How does multiscale benefit an 8-string player?
The Omen Elite-8's multiscale design (25.5" to 27.5") keeps lower strings tight and articulate while maintaining snappy response on higher strings. This balances the tonal character and playability challenges that come with adding two longer strings.
Are both guitars suitable for intermediate players?
Yes, both are rated for intermediate and above. The Synyster Standard has a slightly more forgiving learning curve since 6-strings are standard. The Omen Elite-8 requires getting used to eight strings and wider spacing, but the Thin 'C' neck and graduated frets reduce fatigue.
Which guitar is better for studio recording?
The Omen Elite-8 is specifically listed for studio sessions and modern extended-range voicings. The Synyster Standard excels at traditional metal recording but lacks the extended range the Omen offers for contemporary heavy music production.
