Frequently asked questions
How do these guitars handle drop tunings differently?
The Sun Valley sits at 25.5 inches, which works for standard and moderate drop tunings. The Sunset-7's 27-inch scale and 7-string design are specifically engineered for extended drop tunings and lower pitches while maintaining string tension and clarity.
What's the main pickup difference?
The Sun Valley features a single high-output EMG Retro Active Hot 70 design focused on one aggressive voice. The Sunset-7 has dual Schecter USA pickups (Sunset Strip bridge and Pasadena neck) that offer separate voicing options for varied tones from clean to heavy.
Can either guitar do clean tones?
The Sun Valley's high-output EMG is primarily designed for heavy gain and sustain; cleans are possible but thinner. The Sunset-7's dedicated Pasadena neck pickup is explicitly noted for crisp cleans, making it better suited for tonal versatility.
Which is better for fast technical playing?
Both have 24 X-Jumbo frets and thin neck profiles suited to speed. The Sunset-7's 16-inch fretboard radius and Ultra Thin C profile are specifically optimized for technical players, while the Sun Valley's 14-inch radius favors slightly tighter bends.
