Frequently asked questions
Can I pan and tilt either fixture during a show?
Only the MAC Aura XIP features pan-tilt movement (540° pan, 220° tilt with 16-bit control). The Exterior Wash Pro XL QUAD is a fixed-installation wash light with no moving parts.
Which is better for touring productions?
The MAC Aura XIP is designed for touring rigs with its compact footprint, dual-engine flexibility, and support for DMX, Ethernet, and USB control. The Exterior Wash Pro XL QUAD is engineered for permanent outdoor installations and is not portable.
What is the main difference in light output philosophy?
The MAC Aura XIP combines powerful beam LEDs (296.5W) with a sophisticated color-mixing Aura engine (35.1W) for on-the-fly zoom and color effects. The Exterior Wash Pro XL QUAD prioritizes raw luminous output (10,400 lumens) and saturated color mixing from 25 RGBW LEDs for static wash coverage.
Which is more suitable for architectural façade lighting?
The Exterior Wash Pro XL QUAD is purpose-built for permanent façade and accent lighting with an 8-degree beam angle, 40cm throw distance, and optional baffle snoot. The MAC Aura XIP offers greater zoom flexibility (6.3 to 50.4°) if you need variable throw distances from a single fixture.
