Frequently asked questions
What is the main scale difference and how does it affect tuning?
The EC-1000B is a 27-inch baritone scale designed specifically for downtuned and extended-range play, maintaining ideal string tension in drop-B and lower. The EC-1000QM uses a standard 24.75-inch scale suited for traditional to drop-D tunings, making it more familiar to players not exploring extreme downtuning.
How do the pickup systems differ in tone and functionality?
The EC-1000B features dual Fishman Fluence Modern Humbuckers with push/pull voicing switches to access alternate circuits for expanded tonal range. The EC-1000QM uses active EMG pickups (EMG-81 bridge for aggressive treble, EMG-60TW-R neck with coil-split for versatility), which deliver punchier, brighter output ideal for cutting through mixes without tonal switching.
What body construction difference affects weight, feel, and resonance?
The EC-1000B uses solid set-thru mahogany with a maple cap for maximum sustain and resonance, making it heavier and ideal for aggressive, sustained playing. The EC-1000QM is semi-hollow with a quilted maple top, providing lighter weight and a warmer, slightly airier resonance while maintaining solid sustain.
Which guitar is better for studio recording versus live touring?
The EC-1000B excels in studio where its extreme downtuning and sustain suit modern metal production. The EC-1000QM is equally suited to both—its lighter semi-hollow design makes touring easier, while its active EMG electronics cut through live mixes with punch and clarity.
