EMG6874 vs EMG6875 — Compare
EMG Revelation Passive Humbucker Pickup Set in Brushed Black Chrome vs EMG Revelation-F Passive Humbucker Pickup Set in Black Chrome
Both are passive EMG Revelation humbuckers with nearly identical DC resistance and solderless wiring, but the Revelation-F specifies Gauss and inductance measurements that suggest slightly more output differentiation between bridge and neck pickups. The standard Revelation emphasizes smooth treble roll-off and organic sustain, while the Revelation-F highlights natural breakup and vintage character. Choose the standard Revelation if you prioritize articulate, refined tone; choose the Revelation-F if you want clearer vintage breakup and defined bridge-to-neck contrast.

Frequently asked questions
What's the main tonal difference between these two sets?
The standard Revelation prioritizes smooth treble roll-off and articulate warmth, while the Revelation-F emphasizes natural breakup and vintage character. Both use Alnico II magnets and similar DC resistance, but the Revelation-F's higher bridge Gauss (300 vs unspecified) and inductance ratings suggest more pronounced output and breakup potential.
Are these suitable for metal or djent?
No. Both sets are marked as not ideal for metal or djent genres. Their warm, articulate passive character suits blues, rock, and jazz better than high-gain applications.
Do both include everything needed for installation?
Yes. Both sets include solderless 4-wire plus shield connectivity, matched 500K potentiometers, stereo output jack, pickup bus, mounting screws, springs, and all necessary cables for a complete pickup retrofit.
Which is better for vintage-style guitars?
The Revelation-F is specifically described as vintage-inflected with natural breakup, making it ideal for vintage-styled instruments. The standard Revelation also works well but emphasizes articulation and smoothness over vintage character.
