Frequently asked questions
Can I use the Loomis Noumenon in a standard 6-string guitar?
The Loomis Noumenon has Trembucker (TB) spacing designed for wider pole-piece spacing on extended-range instruments. It may not align properly with standard humbucker routing on 6-string guitars without modification.
What's the main tonal difference between these pickups?
The Loomis Noumenon prioritizes thick bass and crystalline treble clarity for aggression and precision in metal, while the Skolnick TB Black bridges classic rock warmth with modern punch through a lower-output PAF-style neck and high-output bridge.
Do both pickups require special wiring?
The Loomis Noumenon uses standard humbucker wiring and passive design. The Skolnick TB Black includes four-conductor wiring for advanced switching options like coil-splitting, offering more tonal flexibility out of the box.
Which is better for rhythm guitar?
The Skolnick TB Black is better for rhythm play because its set includes a dedicated neck pickup with warm, full-bodied PAF characteristics. The Loomis Noumenon is bridge-only and designed primarily for lead work in high-gain contexts.
