Description

Baton Rouge X11LS/F-W-SCR Wide Neck Steel String Guitar

The X11LS/F-W-SCR captures warm, balanced acoustic tone with natural projection across the frequency spectrum. Built around a 48mm wide neck profile, it accommodates precise fingerstyle articulation and clean string separation—critical for recording sessions where finger noise and unintended muting can compromise take quality. The mahogany body paired with a spruce top produces the resonant, open character that sits well in folk, singer-songwriter, and acoustic-driven mixes, while the open pore crimson satin finish reveals the wood grain and gives the instrument a refined, understated aesthetic.

Build & Materials

Constructed with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and mahogany neck, this acoustic delivers solid tonal clarity and tuning stability across sessions. The ovangkol fingerboard and bridge provide durability and smooth playability, while Nubone nut and saddle components ensure reliable intonation and string transmission. ABS bindings add structural reinforcement and visual definition to the body edges.

Recording & Performance

The 630mm scale length and wide 48mm nut width create generous spacing between strings for fingerstyle work and reduce the likelihood of accidental muting—essential when tracking acoustic guitar parts that demand clean, articulate string definition. Open antique chrome tuners deliver smooth, stable tuning mechanics that hold through long sessions, while the factory-installed D'Addario EXP11 strings provide a solid foundation for immediate playability and consistent tone capture right out of the box.

A great guitar for the price!

This little known, unsung Guitar is a lot of bang for the buck. It has a truss rod, the neck is straight, the nut is wide and generous for those of us with big fingers, and the tone is really outstanding with the spruce and mahogany. It’s a beautiful chocolatey brown with details on the face. It sounds better than my $550 Martin Junior. I highly recommend it. And received excellent and quick attention from Studio Gears. Good people.

At a Glance

The Baton Rouge X11LS/F-W-SCR is a warm, naturally projecting folk dreadnought that sits beautifully in acoustic and singer-songwriter recordings thanks to its balanced midrange and smooth sustain. The wide 48mm neck reduces finger fatigue during long tracking sessions and keeps each string articulate in layered fingerstyle arrangements, while the spruce-and-mahogany construction offers tonal clarity that records cleanly without excessive brittleness. Pre-strung with D'Addario EXP11s and finished in an understated crimson satin, it's a capable recording partner for home studios and producer sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 48mm wide neck really that different, and who needs it?

A 48mm nut is notably wider than standard dreadnoughts (typically 43–44mm), giving you more room between strings for fingerpicking, less accidental muting, and reduced hand fatigue during long sessions. It's a genuine comfort upgrade for fingerstyle players, those with larger hands, or anyone learning to space their fingers more deliberately.

What's included in the box, and is it ready to play?

The guitar ships new in box with D'Addario EXP11 steel strings factory-installed and pre-tuned, so you can play it immediately. It comes with the full manufacturer warranty and needs only a setup check and string stretch before gigging or recording.

How does the tone compare to other budget dreadnoughts?

The spruce top and mahogany back and sides produce a warm, balanced resonance with natural projection and clear midrange—more forgiving and less brittle than some budget instruments. It's tuned toward folk, fingerstyle, and singer-songwriter work rather than aggressive strumming styles, so it sits well in intimate and recorded contexts.

What styles and tunings is it best suited for?

This guitar excels in folk, fingerstyle, acoustic singer-songwriter, and traditional styles. It's not designed for metal, hard rock, or extreme drop tunings; stick to standard and open tunings for the best feel and tonal balance.

Are there any cosmetic quirks with the finish?

The open pore crimson satin finish is intentional—it reveals the natural wood grain for a refined, understated look. There are no reported cosmetic defects; the finish is part of the design aesthetic.
